Last week Friday was John’s Squadron’s Marine Corps Birthday Ball.

John was out of town all week (for his maternal grandmother’s funeral in Arizona), and his flight didn’t get in until after 6:00. The airport is over an hour from where the ball was, so we arrived very late. (He literally had to change into his uniform in the car while I was driving!) We missed the entire ceremony, but luckily made it just in time for dinner, dessert, and of course drinks! Unfortunately, because we were so rushed, we forgot to get a good full-length picture of both of us all dressed up. Oh well.

I really liked my dress, even though I was kind of under-dressed for a ball. I bought it with my birthday VS gift card from my Mother-in-law. (Thanks, Sandy!) It’s definitely a dress I can wear again to weddings and other cocktailish events. And I can dress it down even more with my sessy new black boots.

Because we are really cheap, we didn’t stay at the fancy hotel where the ball was held, but a cheaper one just down the street. It was plenty nice, and we even had a jacuzzi in our $80 room, which was awesome after being freezing cold all night at the ball.
