Today, we finally accomplished a project I have been putting off for quite a while.

I have always hated those big piney bushes in the front of our house. Last year, the one on the right got some sort of buggy infestation thing, which caused it to lose most of its needles, as you can obviously see. A completely gross looking eye-sore.

Before Removing the Bushes

So today, we drove the truck onto the lawn and hooked up some chains.

Hooking up the Chain

John got in and started yanking…

Pulling...

And pulling…

Still pulling...

And soon…

Almost there...

Dirt was flying…

And the bushes were de-rooted…

Timberrrr!

And we had a mess to clean up.

They're Gone!

But they were gone! Aaahh. Makes me so happy.

Empty

I planted some really pretty pink and yellow gerber daisies.
(Still need to pick up some more mulch to surround them.)

The Daisies

These are my favorite flowers in the world, and luckily, they are considered perennials in our warmer climate.

I love the simplistic look it gives to our house! I still have a bunch of other plants I want to remove and prune back, but this is a great start.

After Planting Flowers

I also picked up some hanging flowers for the porch. Hopefully I can remember to keep them watered enough. It will be a challenge!
