We did a whole lot of nothing this holiday weekend, and it has been glorious.

John had Wednesday-Sunday off, and I took Thursday and Friday off.

We didn’t go anywhere for Turkey Day, and no one came here. Oh, and we didn’t even have turkey. We actually went out to lunch at Ruby Tuesday (the only place we could find open, but also one of my favorites).

On Black Friday, we got out the door by about 8:00 to do a little shopping. We were bummed to not really find any amazing deals, but that’s ok. We might have been too late, but we are just not dedicated enough to wake our happy asses up at 4am on a day off. We still were able to find gifts for most of those our list. A little internet shopping and another trip out today, and I think we’re done. I even have most of them wrapped.

One note of annoyance. Why do cashiers act so bothered when you ask them for a gift receipt? In particular on Black Friday? They do understand why there are twice as many people clogging up the aisles, right? We are buying holiday gifts, people. And if you can’t print out gift receipts after hitting “total”, then why don’t you ask me if I need one before you do so? Duh. Ok, end of rant.

It has been a great 4 day weekend with my Johnny, especially since he was in Iraq last year at this time. Just being together is a perfect way to spend a holiday, turkey or not.
